Hello,

In Gramps, you create a source. Then you can create a citation from that source. Additional citations can be created using the same source.
When you create a new citation for an event you are presented with a new blank record. At the very top you can select an existing source record or create a new source. A citation cannot be saved without a source attached.
If necessary, the same citation can be used again for a new record.
thank you.
How do I reuse a citation?
Instead of adding a new citation, you can do a seach for an existing one.
You can do a seach in the citation list view and drag-n-drop it onto a floating clipboard. Once there you can dnd it into another event.
In addition to the source list view, there is a source citation view that lists all citatIons under the source.
Put a souce on the clipboard and drop into an event’s citation tab, a new ciation with that source will present itself to be created.

Where can we find the floating clipboard?
There is a definition of the Clipboard (and where to access it from the GUI) in the Gramps Glossary.
Note: an addon gramplet called the Collections Clipboard was created for power users. Its contents are persistent (not cleared between sessions) and implementation as a gramplet allows creation of many (MANY) separate and independent clipboarded ‘collections’… one for for each splitbar in each compatible view mode.
