URL in source citation

That function, will be a game changer for me

Maybe we should actually think about solutions that will have an impact for everyone that use or want to use Gramps, and that maybe also do other types of research…
Some Open Data Solution, maybe…

I think this discussion is going around in circles and getting off track.
The proposal for a specific URL field for that specific citation. I can see the merit of the other ideas however, this field has a specific use and is processed is a specific manner (appended to the vol/page field).
In addition, I would like to keep the number of additional mouse clicks to zero, which this proposal does. The proposal to add an internet tab adds at least three mouse clicks to the task.

I agree. However we should come up with a design that is easy to expand in the future.

In our previous discussions we agreed that CSL was the way to go. There are CSL variables called “URL” and “accessed” which we can use.

I agree very much with @Davesellers. For most citations I only have one note, typically with a transcription of the source text. By adding a first note field to the citation window a number of clicks can be avoided.

Ideally a configuration option can be set to choose between classic editing (like today) or simplified editing with the first note as just an input field i the citation window.
