I overhauled the default data list. I aimed for short descriptions, worldwide events over country-specific events, and events with clear dates. Some events were removed (Little Ice Age, Smallpox) but most were expanded on.
I tried to include the whole world, although there is a natural bias towards the English-speaking world.
- Removed extra spaces
- Shortened descriptions: I kept the event, time and place and removed conjecture, e.g. changed “Industrial revolution - child labor” to “Industrial Revolution”.
- Replaced entries that had a place in parentheses with a worldwide entry, e.g. “Bubonic Plague of London” replaced with “Black Death”
- Removed events with unspecific or general dates, e.g. Little Ice Age, Smallpox
- Added many new entries
- Updated empty dates
The list is still a work-in-progress and feedback is desirable. I preferred explicit years instead of using “Today” (e.g. War in Ukraine). Most dates are years, but some are ISO dates.
