Gramps 6.1 Planning

I see, there is https://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/6.2_Roadmap.

So 6.1.x will just be development releases, not stable releases?

Sorry for my confusion.

We are remaining flexible over the v6.1 roadmap. There could be a stable release.

Ok, in that case please keep me in the loop so I have at least a month to prepare.

Thanks!

The schedule will probable be “roughed in” by the response to the 1st public beta. Right now, the alpha phase has only enabled feedback from developers and the select few who have been granted an API key to the dummy FamilySearch tree.

So it appears that we don’t yet know what what we do not know (or where we have self-induced blindspots)

I’ll speak to Gordon again this week. If he doesn’t request any more changes then we could go ahead with another release.

It has been a couple weeks since the previous posting. Did @clarkegj have further requests before a 6.1beta2 could go forward?

Will beta testers have a chance to experience the FamilySearch interface before the final Public Release?

Maybe @SourceAirbender and @sam888 can give us an update. I think that we are still waiting for the middleware to be installed on our Gramps server.

I’m happy for us to release another beta or release candidate prior to the final release.

@SourceAirbender has confirmed that we are just waiting for the middleware to be installed and has offered to help. After that we can release another beta and hopefully get everything signed off.

Any news?

If there was just a beta version that didn’t throw “get_fs_status_button” errors on startup, it would be encourage further testing. Simply showing that it is fully functional when FamilySearch is not available.

No news yet. It looks like I may have to ask Brian Matherly to set up an account for Gabriel.
