# Witnesses in family group report possible

There are rather few possibilties to mention witnesses and associates in reports. Would it be possible to add a feature to mention witnesses in the events in the family group report (place and date are already implemented)?

This seems like a good opportunity for a new workflow.

Since @kku added the **Capture output** option and **Print Output** tab to [SuperTool](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Addon:Isotammi_addons#SuperTool), it is much more straightforward to experiment with ideas for composing lines for reports without the drudgery of all the interface tweaking, registration and restarting.

@GaryGriffin created the [Sample Report for new developers](https://gramps.discourse.group/t/sample-report-for-new-developers/3046) for 5.1

There’s an aging wiki article about how to [Adapt a built-in Report](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Adapt_a_built-in_Report).

The parts that are missing are:

- adding the line to a clone of a quickview report (Such as the [**Biography** addon quickview report](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Addon:Biography_Quickview)) before going to all the work for a regular Report. (Because running the iterative test in Reports would be an agony.)
- adding the “witness” to the [Family Group report](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Gramps_5.2_Wiki_Manual_-_Reports_-_part_6#Family_Group_Report) and its [extensive Report Options](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Gramps_5.2_Wiki_Manual_-_Reports_-_part_6#Report_Options)
- the fussy document describing how to move the work from SuperTool, to QuickView, to Sample Report, to fork of the built-in report, to posting the Pull request

(A documented workflow would be nice since it might be leverage to build other QuickViews… such as a Name timeline report.)
