You can put date ranges on names (including the Primary) so that events can have the appropriate variation.
Say that a child has an endearing baby name for their 1st two years of life that has no relation to their given name. Then they are called by a nickname based on their given name. Since they are a legacy namesake (e.g., a ‘IV’), they start going by a middlename instead of the given name. Then they emmigrate and the name is anglicized… first to drop the special characters, then to something more easily pronounced in their adopted home. Then they go into show business and have Stage Name.
That is a bit extreme as an example. But still, most people go by evolving names of endearment. And this supports that for reports without becoming clumsy for each mention of their name.
Alternative names are also easily adapted for Royalty titles and partners taking their spouse’s surname
