Personally, I add a Source Citation to the Association with either an FTDNA or GEDmatch Citation. And I add a Person Attribute for the kit number to the Associated Person. I use ‘GEDmatch kit’ or ‘DNAkit’ as the Attribute. I am not sure that this is what other people would choose to use. But I can add to the documentation.
Something that would be really cool – and rather challenging, I imagine – would be this: when the active person is someone who sits on the relationship path between me and any of my DNA matches, then they too would get a segment map, even though they have no Association with me or my matches.
For example, if I have a DNA association with a second cousin, the those segments would appear when the active is person is my parent or grandparent, or my cousin’s parent or grandparent, that are on the relationship path. (We don’t know which great-grandparent carried the segments, or whether each carried some of them.)
