Back in 2020, Manuela Kugel created a Web Pages report and [quietly asked the Developer mail list to publish it](https://sourceforge.net/p/gramps/mailman/gramps-devel/thread/trinity-b4dc962b-c82c-4bdc-b44b-e8bff7498b1b-1612630148363%403c-app-1and1-bs03/#msg37214100) through the Addon management system.

That ‘publishing’ happened in [PR#476](https://github.com/gramps-project/addons-source/pull/476) … but her addon was never added to the Addons List nor was a wiki page created. [corrected](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Addon:Timeline_Pedigree_Report)

Because new addons tend to become lost in Mass Downloads, this report never got the attention it deserved. (It did not help that it was published at the beginning of the pandemic and while we were preoccupied with getting content into this new and barren Discourse forum before it could fail.) I think the lack of response caused the contributor to move on to other projects. 2 years later, she posted the Alva Genealogieprogramm to [GitHub](https://github.com/mawi2021/alva) and started the [alva.ur-ahn.de](https://alva.ur-ahn.de) website.

The report arranges the persons in the pedigree aligned by birthdate.

In the last week (4 years late), we added both a listing and an addon wikipage for the [Timeline Pedigree](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Addon:Timeline_Pedigree_Report) web pages report.

However, I am not an explorer of reports… probably because of the delayed gratification. So if someone wanted to explore and explain options (the “Size” options in particular), then that would be most helpful.

@Serge – is there a similar option in **Narrated Website** report? If not, this looks like it might complement pages there.

### What to show tab

The `TimePedigreeHtml.gpr.py` annotation was explicit that this report was written for use with the Narrated Website report.

Just added [PR 622](https://github.com/gramps-project/addons-source/pull/622) to improve the description and add a `help_url` link.

@SNoiraud
Could you review the Timeline Pedigree report to determine if changes are needed to make it integrate more cleanly with the [Narrated Web Site report](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Gramps_5.2_Wiki_Manual_-_Reports_-_part_7#Narrated_Web_Site)?

### Color issues in the: Reports → Web Pages → [Timeline Pedigree Report](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Addon:Timeline_Pedigree_Report)

[On the Geneanet Gramps group](https://geneanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2783844#p2783844), Jean Claude BRÉVARD ([bjc49](https://en.geneanet.org/profil/bjc49)) reports:
I just tried this report, and it doesn’t seem bad.
I’m having a little trouble because I haven’t found a way to convert this HTML page to a colored PNG.
Two tries.

- In Firefox, I clicked “Print to PDF” ----\> The timescale appears on the sides, but the color is lost.
- On the page opened in Firefox, I clicked “Print Screen,” which calls the “Spectacle” program with KDE —\> color is fine, but no timescale.
Does anyone know of a solution without using online services or Firefox extensions?

[jmt](https://en.geneanet.org/profil/jmt) responds
By examining the code, I noticed:

- that the timescale is written in white because it’s meant to appear on a black background.
- that there’s a bug in the program that prevents the background image from being transferred.

And suggests the following changes:

116,117c116,117

```python
         jpg_source = os.path.join(utils_path, "README.txt")
         jpg_target = os.path.join(dest_path, "README.txt")
---
         txt_source = os.path.join(utils_path, "README.txt")
         txt_target = os.path.join(dest_path, "README.txt")
```

123a124,125

```python
> if not os.path.isfile(txt_target):
> shutil.copyfile(txt_source, txt_target)
```

which gives this:

```python
       txt_source = os.path.join(utils_path, "README.txt")
        txt_target = os.path.join(dest_path, "README.txt")
        if not os.path.isdir(dest_path):
            os.makedirs(dest_path) # create dir if necessary
        if not os.path.isfile(js_target):
            shutil.copyfile(js_source, js_target)
        if not os.path.isfile(jpg_target):
            shutil.copyfile(jpg_source, jpg_target)
        if not os.path.isfile(txt_target):
            shutil.copyfile(txt_source, txt_target)
```

We then obtain this type of report:

I ran the Timeline Pedigree Report on gramps 5.1.6 and it generated an HTML file.

When I tried Timeline Pedigree Report in gramps 6.0.1 on my Mac, it crashed with this:

```python
278401: ERROR: _reportdialog.py: line 801: Failed to run report.
Traceback (most recent call last):
If the Active person has a Marriage event, it crashes in 6.0.1 but not in 5.1.6. Duplicated crash using Examples tree with Alan Carl Warner as Active person.
I made a [pull request](https://github.com/gramps-project/addons-source/pull/720) to correct the background bug, and the 6.0 compatibility issue.
