After upgrading to 6.0.7 I noticed a small and odd error in the Swedish translation. When opening a person’s window, ‘Given’ is not, as in 6.0.6, translated to ‘Förnamn’. See attached screenshots.

In other places, e.g. report setup, it’s translated correctly

Tried replacing the sv.po file from 6.0.6 and rebuilt, but no difference, so the issue must be elsewhere.

Purely cosmetic, but maybe possible to fix in next release. Or can I edit the source files to fix it?

Pull request [#2173](https://github.com/gramps-project/gramps/pull/2173) adds a translation context to a few strings needed for Russian. Such changes have never caused a problem since we started to use Weblate. It is usually very good and uses the existing string.

However, because it has caused a problem now we will have to be more careful in the future.

Please update the strings on Weblate. I can create a quick 6.0.8 release to fix this.

Thanks for replying. I’m not sure, however, how to interpret your request “Please update the strings on Weblate”. Is that addressed to me? I’m not familiar with Weblate and not sure what I’m expected to do there. Or was it a request to someone else involved in Gramps development?

BTW, I’ve also noticed that under Tools \> Debug, the following options aren’t translated:

Check Localized Date Displayer and Parser
Generate Testcases for Persons and Families
Populate Sources and Places

Otherwise it seems as if all translations shows up correctly.

Rebuilt Gramps-6.0.7 with the revised .po directory from github. This solves the Given/Förnamn translation. Thanks a lot for that! 👍

Missing translations in the Tools \> Debug menu persists, though. I still get:

Check Localized Date Displayer and Parser
Generate Testcases for Persons and Families
Populate Sources and Places

But as said before, this is cosmetic.

Maybe, it is because you are running gramps from source and not from build…

`$ gramps`
vs
`$ python3 Gramps.py`

I’m on Slackware Linux and build a gramps .txz package from source (gramps-6.0.7.zip) using a buildscript from [slackbuilds.org](http://slackbuilds.org). The crucial build command is

```python
python3 -m build --wheel --no-isolation
python3 -m installer --destdir "$PKG" dist/*.whl
```

I then get the following script in /usr/bin:

```python
#!/usr/bin/python3
import gramps.grampsapp as app
app.main()
```

My start command (for Swedish) is

```python
export LANG=sv_SE.UTF8
gramps
```

Temporarily downgraded to v.6.0.6 and the English entries in Tools \> Debug are still there. Might have been there for ages without me noticing.

Of the three menu entries not translated to Swedish I can’t find two of them in sv.po when searching for the strings “Check Localized Data Displayer and Parser” and “Populate Sources and Citations”.

I do find “Generate Testcases for Persons and Families”, lines 35900-359002:

> #: ../gramps/plugins/tool/testcasegenerator.py:127
> msgid “Generate\_Testcases\_for\_Persons\_and\_Families”
> msgstr “Skapa testfall för personer och familjer”

But it’s still in English in the Tools \> Debug menu.

If I open “Check Localized Data…” and “Generate Testcases…”, I get Swedish menus, but choosing “Populate Sources…” gives a menu in English.

My bad, by build, I thought on install by or after build.

In the past (_a long time ago_), by running something like:
`$ python3 -O Gramps.py` # or -OO
the debug tools were more (or no more) visible.

[https://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Debugging\_Gramps#Add\_debug\_statements](https://www.gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Debugging_Gramps#Add_debug_statements)

So, after a proper install and a simple launch with the optimization flag (launcher), only common plugins for the standard use were available. Maybe this has been modified with the last launcher and install processes?
