# How to hide \[mute\] a Discourse category

Can I configure this forum to not show the International category?  
I have tried editing the category options but nothing seems to work. Deselected ALL. tried the check boxes, etc.

Click the **[International](https://gramps.discourse.group/c/international/11)** category flag in the topic list. Click the Bell icon to show the notification rule for the category. Select **Muted**

It looks like sub-categories may have to be muted individually.

And reversing the muting is a real pain. If you select **All categories** from the left sidebar, there is a **Muted categories** section that can be expanded.

But selecting “International” from that list goes to the parent category, not to the muted subcategory. So click the muted Subcategory instead. That will show the subcategory and gain access to its control menus.
