# Gramps Connect, a collaborative challenge

Gramps Connect is an experimental gramps-based project that runs as a single-user app on your desktop, or as a collaborative, hosted app on the internet.
It hasn’t reached version 1.0 yet, but I think it is mature enough for an collaborative challenge. Here’s the idea:
> We get a group of genealogists to actually collaborate on building a family tree / family history on a hosted version. We use the functions of Gramps Connect and give it it a real-world test.
First off, we need a starting point. A person or family that could use some real research (maybe from your own family or history). Not too obscure, and not too famous. Actually, it could be multiple starting points, but the goal is to actually work with others, in public, to put Gramps Connect to the test.
I’ll be participating too, and you can send me messages in Gramps Connect about an idea or bug that you find. I’ll be `dsblank` in the app.
Are you interested in this challenge? If so, send me a message with your the user name you’d like, and I’ll create an account for you. You’ll be an “editor” on the site and can create and edit entries. But you’ll work with others through the messaging feature. As new features or fixes are made, the site will be automatically updated.
Do you have a suggestion for a starting person/family? Post it here and we can discuss.

If they are people who are suspected of being related, but evidence is lacking, that would allow different people to tackle it from different directions, yet still be collaborating on the common goal.

Maybe have it be all the US presidents with New England ancestry, because they really are all related to each other.
