# Available Family Tree Doesn't Show in Family Tree Manager

Somehow you have changed the Database Path in preferences.

[Another thread](https://gramps.discourse.group/t/database-locked-use-force-unlock-option/7194/11) describes how to re-discover the actual path (from the `recent-files-gramps.xml` file which feeds into ‘the little drop down with Family Trees in the upper left of the ~~tool~~ menu bar’) and [change it in **Edit → Preferences**](https://gramps.discourse.group/t/database-locked-use-force-unlock-option/7194/3).

Not only had they changed the database path, they also had the tree locked due to a forced quit.
