Perhaps there could be text view generated from a selected Text report (or Book) and focused on the Active Record in that category?

I find the [QuickView shell gramplet](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Gramps_5.2_Wiki_Manual_-_Gramplets#Quick_View) very useful.

It is handy having a terse summary report immediately available whenever the Active Person focus is shifted.

Using that shell to show the [Biography](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Addon:Biography_Quickview) addon quickview (originally designed to simplify creation of the typical [WikiTree profile biographies](https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Biographies)) simplifies conversations with other genealogists. It allows copying to the clipboard. So you can quickly help the other person onto the same person by pasting the coherent, consistent Vital Statistics into an eMail, private message or forum thread. No tedious collation or transcription necessary.

But… the **Biography** is very limited. QuickViews don’t have configuable options. [There’s a stalled patch to include mentioning the spouse’s in‐laws.](https://gramps.discourse.group/t/liste-de-mariage/6076/5) (Feature request [13655](https://gramps-project.org/bugs/view.php?id=13655)) It does not include the Gramps ID as a reference, it does not link the cite sources.

> ## **Example**
>
> **Biography for Garner von Zieliński, Lewis Anderson Sr**
>
> Anderson was born on 21 Jun 1855 in Great Falls, MT, USA.
> Anderson was the son of Garner, Robert W. and Zieliński, Phoebe Emily.
>
> He married Martel, Luella Jacques on 1 Apr 1875 in Paragould, Greene, AR, USA.
>
> He died on 28 Jun 1911 in Twin Falls, Twin Falls, ID, USA at the age of 56 years, 7 days.
> He was buried on 1 Jul 1911 in Twin Falls, Twin Falls, ID, USA.

A more complete summary in a **Report Shell View** would allow proofreading how the current record is presented and simplfy sharing the information in conversation tone.

The obvious places to pilot the Summary view is [Person Everything](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Addon:PersonEverything_Report) addon report (omitting the media thumbnails to stay within the “text only” concept) in the People category, [Kinship Report](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Gramps_5.2_Wiki_Manual_-_Reports_-_part_6#Kinship_Report) for the Relationships.

But some of the Categories don’t have an obvious default summary Report. So creating a Summary View in the category would mean coming up with a new report too. Filling in that hole is a good thing in itself.

There was an **Individual Summary Report** in the 2.x.x GRAMPS version and [user documentation](https://gramps-project.org/gramps-manual/2.2/en/ch03s09.html#rep-text). It has since been replaced.

It is still mentioned in the [Report `_options.py`](https://github.com/gramps-project/gramps/blob/0f8d4ecd429431b4df64910962f8764af9ff1766/gramps/gen/plug/report/_options.py#L890) and the Person Everything report [user docs](https://gramps-project.org/wiki/index.php/Addon:PersonEverything_Report#Relation_to_other_reports).

The description gives the impression it is just a “dump” of everything connected to the Active Person
